How LLMs pick which businesses to recommend
An important thing to understand: LLMs do not pick the best business. They pick the one they can read, verify, and cite. Quality matters, but findability and trust signals often matter more.
What they actually weigh
Structured profile data they can cross-reference
Review recency and volume as a trust signal
Schema-marked content they can parse and quote
Consistent citations, so your facts agree everywhere they look
When those signals are strong and consistent, the model is confident naming you. When they are missing or contradictory, it hedges and names a competitor it trusts more, even if you do better work.
Why the same query gives different answers
LLM answers vary run to run, which is why a single check is unreliable. We run each query three times across four engines, 240 checks a month, so your score is a trend and not a coin flip. See the full method.
